Description
Grade A multi colours jade cicada resting on a leaf. The cicada and leaf are delicately carved from the same jade rough, as we make use of the distinct natural colour change within a jadeite to carve an icy white cicada resting on the yellow leaf. The cicada has patches of green and honey colour hues. Cicada is regarded as the symbol of longevity and happiness due to its intrinsic properties of being the longest living insect. Leaf represents “forever green”, is a symbol of productivity and longevity due to its abundance. Leaf in chinese character “树叶” has similar pronunciation to chinese character for career “事业”, hence also implies progression and success in career.
Certification for this pendant by Nan Yang Gemological Institute (http://www.ngi.com.sg/), a reputable and independent Singapore gem testing lab, is available upon request.
Jadeite is highly demanded and is exclusively sourced from Myanmar, formerly Burma, hence it is widely known as “Burmese Jade”. It is rich in heritage and widely believed to have spiritual meanings in the Chinese culture. Jade is believed to protect the person who wears it.
