Green Jade Pendant

Grade A green jade pendant with intense brilliant green hue and excellent lustre and translucency. This is an extremely lovely piece created by Mother Nature with the intense green evenly distributed throughout the jadeite and some areas of darker green. Its quality is excellent with great lustre and fine jade grains. The carving is extremely delicate, depicting a magpie resting on the top of a blossoming plum tree. This jade pendant is an investment grade, as it is a rare combination of excellent jadeite quality and impressive carvings.

Since the first syllable of magpie (喜鹊) means joy, magpies in Chinese culture symbolize good fortune and happiness. The plum tree is called 梅, which is homonymous to the word 眉 “eyebrow”. Thus, 喜上梅 “magpie on plum tree” is homonymous to the good wish  喜上眉梢  “happiness to the top of your eyebrows!”. This jade carving thus symbolises happy events and all smiles for the wearer.
